Friday June 29th - Gigspanner

Peter Knight (Steeleye Span) Group Gigspanner has been hailed by Songlines magazine as "another milestone in folk's rebirth of cool moment", but those in the know will tell you that there is far more to Gigspanner than meets the eye. A Bedrock of British traditional music is to be expected from Steeleye Span's legendary fiddle player, but Gigspanner's musical reach probes into Eastern European, French, African and even Aboriginal influences.

"Altogether gorgeous…music to sustain the spirit" - Dai Jeffries, Rock 'n Reel Magazine

"The Trio co-create a depth of multi-textured melody that belies the pared-down instrumental line-up. Exceptional stuff, and not to be missed" - Noel Harvey, Acoustic Magazine

Supported by Kirsty Bromley

Kirsty Bromley is a singer, dancer, teacher and performer of folk music within the English Tradition.
She has been in choirs and musical ensembles from a very early age and much of her formative years involved immersion in the Brass Band tradition. This enabled her to make the transition to the 'other' English tradition, a journey which has been rich, eventful and which continues to challenge her.
In 2010, drawing on her considerable musical experience, Kirsty recorded trumpet and backing vocals on Pete Coe's album 'Back Bone' performing along side Chris Coe, Jon Loomes, Michael Beeke and John Adams. She also played with Eliza Carthy, Doug Oates, Matt Quinn, Tom Wright, Dogan Mehmet and Nigel Holmes in the Eliza Carthy Motown Ceilidh Band at Whitby Folk Week in 2010 and Sidmouth Folk Week 2011.
